Q: Could you please describe your job in one sentence?
A: Ignite the confidence to create and confidence to succeed in underserved youth.
Q: What previous job or training best prepared you for your work at RAW Art Works?
A: Developing lesson plans as a part-time teacher was especially helpful in preparing me for developing creative concepts for the many groups I facilitate. We primarily run group programming where youth are asked to respond to compelling questions through a meaningful creative process. My undergraduate degree, in studio art, which exposed me to many different approaches to being creative, is the root of the work I do with the youth at RAW.
Q: What has been the hardest part about your job?
A: Helping kids help themselves and when they don’t believe that they can.
Q: Finally, what do you think the world would be like without RAW Art Works?
A: A world without bridges – making it difficult to connect, explore and broaden perspectives.
