Q: WHO OR WHAT INSPIRES YOU?
A: My family, particularly my little sister. She’s in med school and works incredibly hard while still being an awesomely fun person to be around. We tend to find adventure and trouble together. For example, just recently we convinced our family to wear Harry Potter glasses at our cousin’s wedding ceremony. Our cousin is a huge Harry Potter fan, so she cracked up, and the entire wedding party was giggling down the aisle.
Q: THAT’S SO FUN! I LIVE WITH A MED STUDENT MYSELF, AND I MUST SAY, I’VE NEVER SEEN ANYONE STUDY SO HARD! DO YOU HAVE ANY ROOMIES?
A: I have the best roomie, my beau of eight years. He’s absolutely my better half and the only reason that I’m somewhat sane. We’re not hipster enough to call each other “partner” and too lazy to get married, so we’re probably just going to lollygag our way into a common-law marriage.
Q: WOW, EIGHT YEARS IS INCREDIBLY IMPRESSIVE! SPEAKING OF WHICH, TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE SUPER IMPRESSIVE CYCLING YOU’VE DONE.
A: I love visiting my two besties out west. I’m easily convinced to go anywhere on a bike, and with them I’ve cycled across Iowa three times, over Independence and Vail passes in Colorado, and through red rock trails in Moab. I’m trying to get into mountain biking in New England; the trails are awesomely techy [read: ungroomed]!
Q: LASTLY, WHO BROUGHT YOU INTO SHEGIVES? WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT HER?
A: Laura Gassner Otting, who has an incredible sense of style. That combined with her energy and enthusiasm means that you always know when she’s in the room.
SheGives connects committed, inquisitive, engaged funders with a slate of diligenced nonprofits in the Greater Boston area. We provide members with relevant data about the nonprofits in our portfolio and an opportunity to meet directly with our nonprofits’ Executive Directors and senior staff in small settings that promote in-depth q&a’s and, ultimately, informed giving. Giving is personally driven, but because we give side-by-side our collective impact is greater.
WhoIsShe is a regular column featuring an appreciative but sometimes irreverent conversation with a SheGives Member.
