Q: WHAT IS THE LAST MEAL YOU’D HAVE ON EARTH, AND WHO WOULD COOK IT FOR YOU?
A: I LOVE Indian food, and the most amazing meal I have ever had was at the Lake Palace in Udaipur, India. AMAZING!
Q: WOW, A LAKE PALACE? WHAT WAS THAT LIKE? AND WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO UDAIPUR IN THE FIRST PLACE (BESIDES THE FOOD, OF COURSE)?
A: The Lake Palace was one of the most beautiful and glamorous hotels I have ever stayed in. I was on my way to hike to Base Camp of Mt. Everest, and I traveled around India for a week before I headed to Nepal. Udaipur was the last stop before I flew to Kathmandu, and the Lake Palace was a bit of a splurge before I slept in a tent and didn’t shower for three weeks! That month-long journey to India and Nepal was a big influence in my life, and I have been wanting to get back to India to live in an ashram [Hindu spiritual hermitage] and explore other areas of the country.
Q: WHERE ELSE HAVE YOU TRAVELLED LATELY?
A: I am a California girl at heart so any chance I get, I hop on a plane and head West. I also love adventure travel. I have traveled to India, Nepal, Africa, all over Europe. I guess you can say I have a bit of a wild side and sometimes I need to get my ya-ya’s out!
Q: OKAY, LAST QUESTION: WHO BROUGHT YOU INTO SHEGIVES? WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT HER?
A: The fabulous Laura Gassner Otting brought me into SheGives. I have known Laura for eight years, and I have always admired her passion for living life to its fullest. She is an incredible example of living a full, balanced life of family, work, play, and service (giving back to the community).
SheGives connects committed, inquisitive, engaged donors with a slate of diligenced nonprofits in the Greater Boston area. We provide members with relevant data about the nonprofits in our portfolio and an opportunity to meet directly with our nonprofits’ Executive Directors and senior staff in small settings that promote in-depth q&a’s and, ultimately, informed giving. Giving is personally driven, but because we give side-by-side our collective impact is greater. See a list of the vetted nonprofits selected for our slate here.
WhoIsShe is a regular column featuring an appreciative but sometimes irreverent conversation with a SheGives Member.
