Q: WHAT IS THE LAST MEAL YOU’D HAVE ON EARTH AND WHO WOULD COOK IT FOR YOU?
A: An Italian feast cooked by Barbara Lynch with wines selected by Cat Silirie.
Q: CLEARLY, YOU ARE IN THE KNOW WHEN IT COMES TO FOOD AND WINE! IN WHICH CASE, LET ME ASK YOU: WHAT IS YOUR MUST-GO RESTAURANT IN BOSTON AND WHY?
A: It’s too hard to pick just one, so I’ll pass along two favorites. I just did a 40th birthday party celebration for a good friend of mine at STIR, Barbara Lynch’s cooking school in the South End, and we had a great meal and great time that will be remembered for a long while. My other favorite spot is Troquet, where the service is fantastic and the entire experience is just top notch. A must-go if you haven’t been.
Q: BESIDES ENJOYING GOOD FOOD AND WINE, HOW ELSE DO YOU LIKE TO SPEND YOUR TIME?
A: I’m passionate about re-investing both in other women and in our local community. Right now, I help run the Boston chapter of 85 Broads, a global women’s networking organization focused on connecting, inspiring, and empowering women. 85 Broads currently has more than 32,000 members in 40 countries. I also serve on the Board of the YWCA of Boston, which is doing mission critical work in the city addressing racial and gender equity and promoting peace, justice, freedom, and dignity for all Bostonians.
Q: SO POWERFUL. TO CLOSE OUT, WHO BROUGHT YOU INTO SHEGIVES, AND WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT HER?
A: My friend Maria Cirino invited me to attend the SheGives launch party last fall. I got hooked on the concept and was inspired by so many of the interesting and successful women that are involved, including Maria! She is a generous person that is always willing to help others, and she has been a great sounding board as I’ve been growing and developing my own business.
SheGives connects committed, inquisitive, engaged funders with a slate of diligenced nonprofits in the Greater Boston area. We provide members with relevant data about the nonprofits in our portfolio and an opportunity to meet directly with our nonprofits’ Executive Directors and senior staff in small settings that promote in-depth q&a’s and, ultimately, informed giving. Giving is personally driven, but because we give side-by-side our collective impact is greater.
WhoIsShe is a regular column featuring an appreciative but sometimes irreverent conversation with a SheGives Member.
