Q: WHAT IS THE MOST EXCITING THING YOU HAVE GOING ON IN YOUR LIFE RIGHT NOW?
A: My husband and I own a small cottage with a friend in Eastham, MA. We’re adding a bathroom and a bedroom so that we can spread out and spend more time down in the Cape.
Q: THAT SOUNDS LOVELY. AND RIGHT UP YOUR ALLEY, GIVEN YOU’RE AN ARCHITECT! WHAT ARE SOME OF YOUR OTHER PASSONS, BESIDES DESIGNING BEAUTIFUL HOMES?
A: I love to eat. I also enjoy cooking Asian food, especially Korean. I took three months off work when I was 29 and travelled Southeast Asia. I was very close to leaving everything back in Boston and signing up for culinary school in Singapore.
Q: SOUNDS DELICIOUS. DO YOU EVER COOK FOR A CROWD? (HINT, HINT!)
A: I throw a Chinese New Year party every year at my house, and I cook for days for it. I even make my own kim chi. The most popular dish is pork bo saam – a modified version of David Chang’s recipe.
Q: OKAY, LAST QUESTION: WHO BROUGHT YOU INTO SHEGIVES? WHAT DO YOU LIKE BEST ABOUT HER?
A: Geraldine. She is amazingly humble and compassionate. I can just be “me” around her and talk about everything with her. We rarely get to see each other, but when we do, there is no loss in time.
SheGives connects committed, inquisitive, engaged donors with a slate of diligenced nonprofits in the Greater Boston area. We provide members with relevant data about the nonprofits in our portfolio and an opportunity to meet directly with our nonprofits’ Executive Directors and senior staff in small settings that promote in-depth q&a’s and, ultimately, informed giving. Giving is personally driven, but because we give side-by-side our collective impact is greater. See a list of the vetted nonprofits selected for our slate here.
WhoIsShe is a regular column featuring an appreciative but sometimes irreverent conversation with a SheGives Member.
